Students are encouraged to design their own education and to think globally. Peace and conflict studies is a specialty. Lots of merit scholarships, though there is not much diversity among students.
Popular majors / known for: Math, Business, Physical Science, Psychology, Journalism
Academic approach:
Emphasis on hands-on learning through community or global engagement work built into the curriculum
Uses flexible programs of emphasis rather than traditional majors/minors to encourage students to build their own educational experience
Core coursework pushes students to think about issues in an interdisciplinary light
Fun fact / campus tradition: On Mountain Day, the oldest tradition at Juniata, classes are canceled and students flock to nearby state parks for a break in the outdoors! Check out other campus traditions here!

Quirky Aspects
Strong sense of campus tradition! Events include Lobsterfest, the storming of the arch, Mr. Juniata pageant, the pig roast, and Madrigal dinner.
Accepting and welcoming campus community; student body is known to be a bit nerdy
Through the Community Engaged Learning program, students have the opportunity to design and teach courses to the Huntington community. Past offerings have included the Empty Bowls Practicum, where students and community members make bowls to raise funds for local food shelters; and Language and Motion, which partners with local K-12 students to teach international languages and cultures.
Club offerings include an apiary club, focused on raising bees; the Ministry of Games; the Wild Hunters of Juniata, who teach backcountry survival skills; and a quidditch club
