U Puget Sound has a strong academic culture with laidback people. They boast an excellent science program, with small discussion-based classes. Professors are dedicated and engaged, there is a wide variety of courses, and students are intellectually critical and socially conscious. Classes take up a lot of time, but students relax on weekends on their stunning campus close to the water and metro areas.

Merit Aid Opportunities

  • 46% of non-need students receive merit aid, with the average offer being $23,325. Merit-based scholarships range up to $30,000 a year

    • Academic Scholarships: All incoming undergraduates are considered for the Alumni, Faculty, Dean's, President's, or Trustee scholarships. No separate scholarship application is required.

    • Talent Scholarships: Puget Sound offers scholarships to incoming full-time undergraduates for performance excellence in music, theatre, art, and forensics. Students interested in being considered for these awards must submit additional applications by January 15th.

  • Merit scholarships range from $15,000 to $25,000 a year, each year, renewable for up to five years. Renewable academic scholarships range up to 30,000 a year

  • There are two full tuition scholarships: the Lillis and the Matelich, which require an additional application due December 15th

    • Lillis Foundation Scholarships go to two first-year students who combine "extraordinary promise in academics and scholarship“

    • Matelich Scholarships go to two first-year students who "demonstrate a capacity for a life of leadership and sustained personal growth."
