Whittier offers a good breadth in classes and is a great school for those who are trying to figure out what they want to do or those who want to create their own major. Everyone here is passionate about the subject that they teach. The campus is small, so it’s easy to make friends and there are typically lots of events to go to. Whittier's version of Greek life comes in the form of the school’s eleven “societies,” and a majority of students have some form of involvement in a society or a sport. Whitter is relatively close to LA and the beach, so the weather is pretty nice and students often spend time outdoors, lounging under trees and on the grass to do homework and socialize. There are hills behind the campus that are good for hiking or running.
Popular majors / known for: Business, Health & Physical Education, Psychology
Academic approach: Liberal Arts - With a student to faculty ratio of 12:1, classes are personal and it’s easier to get individualized support from professors. There are no impacted majors or programs.
Fun fact / campus tradition: Are you a dog person? Well-behaved canine friends accompany their owners to class or to the office, participate in campus events, and stay active on the vast lawns. It has become a campus tradition to stop by the December Alumni House during finals week for a good luck cuddle from a team of therapy dogs.
