Denison University

Denison University is a Midwest liberal arts school with an east coast feel. Critical thinking and intense academic involvement are a way of life here, with brilliant professors leading small, intimate classes. Its location is somewhat isolated but the solid community makes up for it, and a strong support network exists to provide students with whatever they might need. Denison students are a diverse, energetic bunch that participate in a plethora of extracurricular activities, both on campus and off.

Academic approach: Liberal arts. Denison's Learning Guide encourages students to center their learning on asking questions, being creative, taking risks, maintaining integrity, and showing courage.

• The arts have a strong presence on campus-- both in and out of the classroom!

• Denison Seminars take an interdisciplinary approach to a particular subject. Courses include: Wicked Problems, The Nature of Numbers, and Representations of African and Diaspora Communities: Race, Space, Gender, and Health.

Campus tradition: Buzzard Watching: The woodlands and fields have apparently made this a happy place for vultures. They circle the skies; sometimes we watch. You have to be here to understand.

Fun fact: Students living on campus may choose to do so in sustainability-focused cabins, in the Homestead intentional living community.
