Westmont is a Christian liberal arts college, Southern California-style. Academics come from an unapologetically Christian perspective, with faculty having signed statements of faith, but the overall climate is more laid-back than other evangelical powerhouses. Cultural homogeneity can be an issue. Santa Barbara’s surf and sand are only five minutes away, and shorts and sandals are the norm.
Popular majors / known for: Kinesiology, Marketing, Parks and Recreation, Biology
Academic approach: Liberal arts from a strong Christian perspective
Fun fact / campus tradition: Since 1961, Westmont has held an annual Spring Sing in which students from each residence hall produce Broadway-style skits and compete for prizes and bragging rights.
