The University of Rochester is a school of endless opportunities including advanced classes and study abroad. Their main feature is research. The have an open curriculum, without just one general education requirement, allowing students to really explore varied academic interests. They encourage hands on learning, and over 75% of undergraduates participate in research in some form! Classes require a lot of work, and studying tends to be a main focus of the student body. Professors are incredible, though, and you will receive a fantastic education. There is an active social scene that includes clubs and Greek life.

Popular majors / known for: Engineering, Business, Pre-Health, Economics, Visual and Performing Arts

Academic approach: Research university with an open curriculum. The only thing students are required to do, beyond their major, is take courses to ensure they build skills in written communication.

Fun fact: The University of Rochester only has one division 1 sports team, and it's the squash team!
