Connecticut College is a picturesque liberal arts college that has committed itself to sustainability, community service, and learning. The school focuses on interdisciplinary education with small, discussion-based classes and self-scheduled exams, giving students the autonomy to truly tailor their learning around their interests. Academics are rigorous, but relevant to life outside the classroom. In addition to stellar academics, there are great athletic opportunities and lots of extracurricular activities. As a more rural school, most social life takes place on campus and in the dorms. The town of New London is small, but day trips to NYC or Boston are common (each are within 2-3 hours of campus). In general, the student body is close-knit and supportive.
Popular majors / known for: Economics, Biology, Psychology, Political Science, Sociology
Academic approach: Liberal arts, through an approach called Connections.
Fun fact / campus tradition: The college celebrates a non-denominational holiday called Festivus. Each residence house has its own party and it all culminates in a campus Festivus dance!

Similarity to Brown
Although Connecticut College has a curriculum, known as Connections, the program is flexible and designed to be self driven. Rather than following a set curriculum, you work with advisors to build an education that works best for you. Watch this video for more.
Students tend to be pretty quirky, creative, and tight-knit.
Like Brown, the campus is located in the coastal Northeast and it boasts a strong campus community.
