Case Western is an incredible research-oriented school with fantastic opportunities and amazing financial aid. They are known for their world-renowned STEM programs (specifically in engineering and biology) that focus on research, applied learning, and solving problems. They support hands-on learning outside of the classroom as well, with a think[box] (an innovation center that allows students to create a prototype of a design) and co-ops that allow you to get paid work experience while in school! While a medium size school, at just over 5,000 undergraduate students, it is located in Cleveland and has a big-school feel with strong Greek life presence. Academics are challenging, but professors are passionate and well-qualified, and the university has free tutoring available for students.
