Negitive Space Leaves

This project is based on negative space. We tried to activate the background rather than the foreground as most people usually do. The setting of my piece is supposed to be a sunset over a mountain. I thought this wold look good with the leaves because it kind of stays in the nature theme. I used water colors (on the background), sharpie (to outline the leaves), and marker (on the sun) for this project. To create the leaves we got real leaves from outside and taped them onto a separate paper then copied what we saw on that paper onto our final draft paper.

In this artwork you can see the technique I used of blending the orange and red on the sky, that is my favorite part of this piece. When I originally started the picture I wasn't going to add clouds in the sky but I thought it would make the sky look more realistic. Now I wish I had done less clouds because I think the sky looks too blank and unfinished. If I could add more to this project I would fill in the small blank space in between the leaf and stem on the leaf in the right corner which I missed when I was creating this. I might also make the darkest mountain go on past the middle leaf because it seems like it drops off too suddenly. Overall, I think I did the leaves well and put a lot of effort into this piece and it looks pretty good.
