Existential #2

Sustained Investigation #2

Watercolor and marker

This is my sustained investigation #2, I made this piece to explore existential thoughts of "mother nature". the subject of the piece is a personified version of nature and the universe. This piece represents the idea that mother nature is content and thriving without human interaction.

This work was made with watercolor, which is blended to represent the fluidity of all the elements of nature. I also added details with fine markers and used watered down acrylic paint in order to create the faded clouds in the background.

This piece had a lot of background research that went into it because I did a lot of experimental work before starting on the paint to ensure it would blend right. My inquiry is "How can I explore crisis/existential thinking using mixed media art?" which is seen in this piece because of the existential idea of the universe and the way every person forms this idea in their own way.
