Duck Stamp:
This is my Duck Stamp project, when I decided to do a mottled duck I researched some of their habitats and they live in lots of marshes and lakes so I put in lots of greenery around my duck and made the water the shade that it is. I chose this specific type of duck because I didn't see anyone else choosing it and it seems like the kind of duck that I have seen out in the wild in real life.
When making this project I used acrylic paint and started with a graphite sketch of the duck and then painted the water and duck then finally the greenery. I added the feathers and beak details to make it more realistic then I made the reflection in the water which is my favorite part of the painting because I think it makes it a lot more realistic and brings more texture and movement to the piece.
Overall when I made this project I made like six different drafts because making realistic water was so hard for me to figure out and I couldn't decide how I wanted my duck to look or if I wanted multiples. If I had more time working on this project I probably would have made another duck or just added legs sticking out like in my original idea planning sheet but after doing so many drafts and everything on this project I just felt like I needed to be done before I messed it up and I'm relatively happy with the way it turned out in the end.
