My Ghosts
Marker, Sharpie, Paint pens

This is my sustained investigation #13 which is based on representing one's "ghosts," their anxieties and fears. I created a bright colorful background to contrast with the black ghosts and simple design. My color pallet was chosen to have a vibrant and good-vibey background, which is muddled by the ghosts making the person feel hollow. With this work, I was interested in playing with layering and going with the flow of the project because I felt that my original idea for the piece didn't match the background so I changed it up.
This work was made with markers, sharpies, and paint pens. I used these in this specific order to get the effect I was looking for. I started off with my initial sketch which then evolved into the colorful background and I planned to put the silhouette of a woman on it but I thought a more cartoonish design on top would suit it better so I moved into working on the ghost creatures instead.
As I mentioned, this piece had some revision work but it kept the same general idea, I intended to have a centered subject with a simple black design that would represent anxieties and I think my revision was a stronger idea anyway.
