Sustained Investigation #3:

This is my sustained investigation #3 for this project I decided to take my third part of the series in a much different direction but still tried to answer the question, "how can I capture equine movement while focusing on balance in my paintings?" On my first project I wanted to take inspiration from Dahlov Ipcar but decided not to because I had a different image in my mind so I went back to that original idea and executed it here. I put the horses in these positions because it is something I have watched horses do a lot to scratch each others shoulders and is super cute plus I decided it could be a different way to show balance.

This work was made with an original sketch then I filled in the horses with pretty much opposite colors, I was going to do white and black but the white seemed too boring so I painted it a light pink color. I made the clouds, sun, and highlights in the corners out of acrylic paint and the hearts around their with marker and cut up some sparkly sticky foam stars for their hoof details.

The light blue and the light pink balance each other out as well as the two horses and I decided to give them their sparkly hooves to add another element to the picture and give it something special. I wanted to do a smaller work than I have been because i felt like I was getting to caught up on the small details in the large pictures and making them more realistic than I wanted. When I was making this I was trying to think of anything more I could add to it to fill all the space more but I wasn't sure and I almost wish I had done it on toned paper or something so I could just give it a more interesting look and I could figure out different details to add to bring out the things toned paper can do.
