This is my sustained investigation #14 which I made to exaggerate the feeling of heartbreak. I used a rose as it is my favorite flower and my middle name, and it also is the flower mainly associated with love and relationships. This piece however isn't supposed to just represent a breakup it is more meant to embody the overall feeling of heartbreak whether that be from a breakup or something else. I also think this piece is one that is individual to the person looking at it, and it is supposed to bring back nostalgic feelings of heartbreak from the viewer.
I made this piece using the lightbox for my general sketch and then I colored the rose, filled in the background, and added designs in squares all over the piece. However, I wasn't a fan of how the designs that I added turned out so I decided to add collage that could serve to give the piece a more nostalgic feel.
There were a few revisions throughout this piece, like the decision to add collage and to change the way I wanted to format the squares. I also experimented with patterns a bunch under the collage squares but these ended up getting covered up.
