Blind Contour

This is my blind contour, mixed media project. On this project we had to draw a picture of your hand as you looked at it, a self portrait as you looked in a mirror, and a picture of the person sitting next to you, all without looking at the paper. We had the goal of trying to examine what you are actually looking at rather than just drawing what you think it may look like. This may cause the end product to look unrealistic while still having aspects of reality in them. After drawing these three things we were assigned to add color on top of them using multiple materials and possibly making some sort of design. I took a ruler and sketched on strait lines that crossed in random directions then I used a black paint-like colored pencil. After using that, I added blocks of color in rainbow order and tried to blend them all together. If I was to go back and do something differently I would have done the original black stripes in sharpie so I wouldn't have to worry about them bleeding into the colors. This was my first time using those colored pencils though so I was just figuring them out. Overall, I like the way this project turned out and it makes me want to add lots of color to all my next art projects.
