In this project, we were asked to create a piece revolving around the description we got for a card. On my card, I was asked to make an animal with the head of a monkey, body of an elephant, and feet of a bird. This was a very interesting project, and brought me out of my comfort zone. I merely did a simple sketch for this project on paper, and I did light shading with a pencil. I used a variety of different principles and designs, such as value, space, and contrast. I used value in my shading, and to get a nice sketched piece, and since this piece is only black and white, the usage of space is very important. I haven't really drawn animals before, so I focused on working with the space to create a creature that looks somewhat recognizable. In this project, I experimented with different different poses for the creature, along with a variety of different ideas, such as fur or smooth skin. It was originally very different, but this is what I decided on due to my lack of time since I couldn't decide on what I wanted to do. If I was to continue on this piece, it would be to do fine lines, and then go over and ink it. Afterwards, I would color the piece and polish it up.
