New Vision of an Old Work

For this piece, we were asked to create a revision of an old piece that we had already done. So, I decided to redo an old sustained investigation from this year. I decided not to do any birds, since I've only been doing birds recently, and I don't think it would be affective to redo them so soon. I wanted to practice some things that I have never done before. So, I actually fully colored the piece, and also decided to try something entirely new. In the corner, I tried to make a typical comic book style shot for another character, but it honestly didn't work out as I wanted it. For this piece, I worked digitally, and worked on my dynamic poses and facial features. I worked a lot on the figure of the character, and I wanted to make sort of a shocked expression for the corner person. Because of this, it took my a lot of practice in order to be able to get the form correct, which made an interesting piece, and very dynamic. The corner shot adds more to create sort of a story which I really enjoy when making art. I started off with an idea in my head, and then sketched it out first, just getting the base shape down. It is much easier to do dynamic pieces when you sketch it out first. The easiest part are the details, since it's mainly the pose that is tricky. I am sort of proud how this came out, mainly because I tried something entirely new. However, I don't think it came out the best artistically, but I am proud of myself for trying something new and stepping out of my comfort zone. If I was to do something different, I would redo the character in the corner, and make it much more clear what I was trying to do.
