Sustained Investigation #2

In this project, we were asked to create a project following the description of what we chose to do. For this project, I chose character design. So, I chose things around the house and put them together to create a character. This project doesn't relate to my life in any particular way. To create this piece, I put fabric over a glass bottle, and created a face out of a clay like material. I placed feathers along the head to create a head piece, and the feathers are from my birds, which they have dropped over a year. I put some googly eyes, on top of it, and made a robe made of black colored paper. I also used a ton of tape to keep everything together. I used a variety of different elements a principles of design, such as color, texture, and pattern. Color was used on every piece, in an attempt to create a more likable character. I chose mainly colors of blue, with a bit of black and green. I used these colors to have them blend better together. Texture was on most of the materials already, so I went for a more fabric style. I also used pattern, which I used to create a character which flows better throughout. Originally, I couldn't decide what I wanted to do, so I spent some time experimenting with different materials. This lead to me choosing these specific style and materials. If I were to do this project again, I would change the material I used for the head, and do a more three dimensional style for his staff.
