Logo

In this project, we were asked to create a logo involving either the theme of Freeport High school, or a random word assigned to us. For me, the word I was assigned was butterfly. This project relates to my life because I am a student of Freeport High School, so it was easy for me to create a logo since it relates so much to my life. In the butterfly logo I used only pencil on paper, with simple shading. For the Freeport logo, I used a drawing tablet to create a more finished piece. On my tablet, I used the program ProCreate. Throughout the project, I used a variety of principles and designs, some of which being value, emphasis, and balance. For my butterfly logo, it was an incredibly simple design and was only a sketch, so must of what I look at pertains to my more finished logo. My Freeport logo consisted of the designs and principles. Emphasis was a big part, because I really wanted my main focus to be the falcon, so I did my background according to that, which brings us to balance. I used balance in this piece by using incredibly simple colors on the falcon, then using really bright colors for the explosion in the background. This balanced out my piece and created a good contrast of dark and light, which I think really brings out the main topic of the piece. Originally, I wasn't planning on doing another digital piece, but I ended up doing my finished version there because it is where I do most of my artwork. If I was to work on a next step, it would probably be to work on the explosion in the background, because it looks rushed and messy.
