Covid-19 Project

In this project, we were asked to create a project around the current pandemic, the coronavirus. So, for this project, I created a glass dome filled with dirt, and is made to represent the earth. I then placed a few lego characters within the dome, and gave them a few masks to show the corona virus part. This project doesn't exactly relate to my life, other than that it is part of the pandemic, and has affected the entirety of the world. For this piece, I filled a glass dome with dirt, and filled it with a bunch of different earthy materials. Then, I placed modified lego characters within, gave the dome eyes and a mask, and then some hair using some plants. For this project, I used a variety of different elements and principles of design, such as color, texture, balance, and emphasis. Color was used throughout the piece, in order to give it an earthy feel, and to make certain parts stand out, and have other parts flow better. I used texture to create a rough looking sculpture. This makes it feel more natural and earth like. I used balance when placing characters within the dome, as I didn't want it to feel over crowded or unnatural. Finally, I used emphasis when making the eyes, hair, and lego characters, as these are all important parts of the piece, and I wanted them all to stand out. Originally, I went through quite a few ideas for projects before choosing this one. Specifically, I wanted to make an actual coronavirus, but decided against it. If I were to continue working on this project, I would change how the mask came out, and try to make it more three dimensional.
