Sustained investigation #4

For this project, and just like all my other sustained investigation projects, I have an inquiry question that I am applying to each and every piece. My inquiry question is, how can I show movement through character design? So, for this piece, I decided to go back to paper pencil and draw a more action, mid fight scene. The character is currently channeling up some sort of attack, and is pretty bloodied up. I made this just while sketching in my sketchbook, and came out with a pretty good movement piece, which I don't normally do. I normally do very stationary characters, so doing movement is a big change for me. I used a lot of shape when making this drawing. For this one, just like my last piece, I tried to do a very dynamic pose, so I had to use shape in order to get the baseline of a character in a pose like this. Shape allowed me to see the general baseline of the drawing, and add some detail from there. This pieces clothes didn't come out too great, but they got the tattered look that I was going for. Originally, I wasn't too sure what I was drawing, I was just kind of going along with it, and ended up with a pretty dynamic scene. If I were to continue working on this, I would add a background and add significant detail. I might also consider inking it and actually finishing it up.
