3D Relation Project

For this project, we were asked to create a 3D piece relating to our life. So, what I decided to do is create an interesting design, and cover it in SkipBo cards. I play SkipBo all the time at home, so I wanted to incorporate this into my artwork. I also drew a hand, which I am very fond of, and was holding a SkipBo card. The piece doesn't exactly relate to me, except for the cards. For this project, I used a large piece of strong paper, copic markers for the colors, and after inking I added the SkipBo cards. I used a variety of different elements and principles of art, some of which being color, emphasis, form, and contrast. Throughout this piece, I use color to depict the setting, and to put emphasis on the hand in the middle. I also surround the card with actual playing cards, drawing emphasis to the hand. I used form to make the hand. Having a lot of practice making hands, I could easily create a hand using techniques I've learned. Contrast was used on the graves, and from top to bottom of the piece, giving it more feeling. Originally, I was unsure of what I wanted to do for a piece, and I was thinking of doing something relating to cards, specifically normal playing cards. But, as I continued, I decided to do SkipBo cards, as it is one of my favorite card games. If I was to continue working on this project, I would add color to the card the hand is holding, and attempt to make it stand out even more. I would also add more of a 3D feel.
