Yellowing cotyledons
Yellow cotyledons in the plant above is a sign of stress.
Large seeds like cucumbers are beat down directly. I wanted to show what happens with early seeding, and cucumber demonstrates it best.
Gourds and most large seeds send out a long root. They will get stressed for space in a typical seedling cell.
If you must sow them in pots, use something long and deep.
Gourds and cucumbers dislike the cold. If you sow them when night temps are low, they get stressed. Wait for night temps to be above 50 at least.
The true leaf is green. So this plant will still make it. It is in a larger pot now.
Productivity of a plant is quite dependent on its early days. Why sow and stress? I will begin a new batch, direct sow after a week to 10 days.
