Alternanthera sessilis (Ponnanganni) is an aquatic plant also known as ponnaganti aaku (in Telugu), Honnagone in Kannada. It is a perennial in Atlanta.
Use care and caution. Always plant these in pots, they spread aggressively and take over lawns or raised beds if planted on the ground.
It is classified as a noxious weed on USDA website. It spreads wild and is hard to destroy.
