Nutrition
The plant needs some nutrition . Adding compost, Buttermilk and seaweed potion, and fish fertilizer helps. Do one thing at a time do not add all at the same time.
Pruning
When you harvest the curry leaves do not break up the leaves. Or strip them of their twigs.
Wait for the plant to send out branches and leaves. Then simply break off the end of the branches to harvest a bunch.
From the point where you clipped, the plant will branch off further. That is how you make a bushy curry leaf plant. The more you trim the growth to harvest, the healthier the plant.
Clip with pruner to make sharp cuts. Freeze the leaves in small boxes. Will be fine for use all winter.
Do not dry curry leaves. They loose all flavor.
Prune the plant in spring. At least when 60 more days of summer remain. The plant loves the sun and heat. And grows better with every pruning.
It will put our new branches in a week to 10 days.
To harvest, keep pinching and breaking off the tips. New branches will form and plant will be more bushy.
Do not pluck or bare the leaves alone for harvest.
Location
Place the plant in a fully sunny spot. It should get sun for most of the day. Bring it indoors in winter.
Pups or seed or cutting
What's the fastest method to grow large curry leaf?
Pup is fastest. Establishes very soon. One season. Seeds and cuttings take two seasons.
Pups
Just pull them out with the roots and put them into a smaller pot. Do it now when rains are there. They will get hold. Fork in with a sharp tool and pull them out. Ensure you get some root. Go for it. The mother plant will be fine.
