"To be" this and "to know" that, it's very cute,
but what do we truly have "to do" ?

We must first know what we are searching for.
Peace of mind is the supreme goal of all spirituality.
The very idea of happiness is ludicrous, infantile and even offensive because that very idea is teaching you that, in fact, you're unhappy.

What we touch touches us too.
What we move moves us too.
What we hurt hurts us too.

The greater the illusion, the more suffering will be
The mind is always preoccupied with its own rights without worrying about its duties, nor its real potential. Therefore, Buddha or Lao Tzu will propose a middle way and correct balance in everything. If we honestly think about, what other solution would be fair, smart and sensible ? But if this equity and also obvious equanimity within oneself determines a search for a right middle way and correct balance in everything, does it mean a stable, fixed and definitive equilibrium, and in some way, immutable and without modification ? Could we sincerely dream of such a solution capable of solving every problem of suffering and dissatisfaction, every internal discomfort and conflict ?
As far as the mind is concerned, the cause of all existential and personal problems, the only conceivable immutability and solution would, of course, be the complete absence of thought, emotion, feeling and state of mind, or in other words, to no longer be human in order to finally live peacefully within oneself, but a self that can only determine our human condition. In fact and following that kind of logic, to say the least completely absurd, we would have to no longer be really human in order to become at last humans able of living in peace. We will understand very quickly that such logic doesn’t make sense at all.
And we will also understand that the middle way and correct balance in everything proposed by Buddha and Lao Tzu can only be found between extreme ways of being, thinking, acting and behaving, but that equilibrium cannot and doesn’t have itself to be stable, fixed and immutable, that is to say the miraculous solution to all the mental manifestations that produce existential problems, suffering and other dissatisfaction.
The major problem of a search for spiritual liberation is, truly speaking, to search for a miraculous cure, kind of magical wound, that would systematically solve all the existential and personal problems produced by the mind without realizing that such a quest would necessarily become the worst of all its problems. And that’s exactly what is happening today when Neo gurus teach that only a spiritual awakening can and will solve every personal problems of everyone and later on of the whole humanity. What is therefore the sensible and wiser solution to existential and personal problems, which will inevitably manifest in many ways and, in fact, so many ways that it’s difficult to conceive that a single solution would be able to solve any real problems ?
As Buddha and Lao Tzu explain, the search for a middle way and correct balance in everything will be to seek without hoping for a miracle, that is to say without expecting a new illusion. The middle way of Buddha and the Tao of Lao Tzu do not propose to seekers of truth or liberation the discovery of a miraculous cure, a universal remedy to all their personal problems. If one day a miracle ..., the supreme and ultimate enlightenment, the divine liberation or whatever happens, that will be great, but in the meantime, it would be much better and smarter to search for a middle way and correct balance, maybe unstable and always questionable, but at least more sensible and consistent with what the mind is really able to experience, understand and put up with without becoming completely insane, that is to say without thinking and having nonsensical speech like those we hear today in so-called Satsang.
And if the search itself doesn’t solve many existential problems, suffering and dissatisfaction, it would simply be due to the fact that the search is simply false, wrong or totally misunderstood since it’s not necessary to intellectualize concepts such as right, correct and middle to understand that any kind of inner balance and equilibrium also means mental health, and that mental and even physical health will already produce a basic happiness or at least a feeling of well-being that everyone appreciates without any doubt, without the least effort and even most of the time without thinking about.
Let us suppose that you feel good without knowing the real reasons of your well-being, would you complain ? That’s what the search for a middle way and correct balance offer in everything and all the time : seek and reap the fruits of your own quest without expecting a miracle, but at least knowing that the quest itself is already miraculous compared to the ordinary functioning of the mind. Said in a simpler way, when we are searching for a middle way and correct balance in everything and, of course, a solution to a personal and specific problem, we can no longer indulge ourselves in our own problem, indifference and ignorance. The problem of self-satisfaction in our own unhappiness and dissatisfaction, typical of the ordinary functioning of the mind, is already solved, and it means that we have found without realizing it the most important part of the solution to almost all of our personal and specific problem. To make it clearer, when we search for a middle way and correct balance in everything, the thinking process is a lot more constructive, smarter and simpler that thinking to our problems and losing our time in useless and unproductive lamentations.
Such a quest and solution may seem simplistic and somehow stupid, but if we carefully watch how the mind usually works, we will also understand that its functioning is very often stupid, if not completely insane. It’s very easy to verify by simply watching how it is quite able to create personal problems out of something that could be thought of intelligently without the slightest complication. And that happens very often as we all know.
Contrary to what we may think, that search for a middle way and correct balance in everything is not a quest for positive thinking, it’s nothing more than a search for an objective, sensible and smart way of being, thinking and living. Can objectivity within oneself be possible, or is everything necessarily subjective and consequently false, as many Neo gurus currently claim nowadays ? It’s only the search for a middle way and correct balance in everything that could really answer such a question because it cannot be a conceptual answer. If spirituality or wisdom is really a solution to any sort of existential and personal problems, we can only practice this spirituality and wisdom, and therefore it’s useless to intellectualize it. The search for a middle way and correct balance in everything is not an intellectual quest, that’s what Buddha and Lao Tzu explain with intellectual thoughts, of course. How could it be otherwise ? Any thoughts are intellectual and so problematic, and it clearly means that spirituality and wisdom are not and should not become intellectual.
When you are thinking, living, acting or behaving in a certain way, just ask yourself "Is that correct, right and really smart ? Is that how I can really express my sanity and intelligence ? Is that the real expression of a middle way and correct balance in my own mind and my life ?", and then see by yourself that your most natural response will be practical and not intellectual. That’s the point of spirituality and any sort of real spiritual life. It won’t be a miraculous solution to all your personal problems, the supreme liberation or whatever, but at least, it does its job, it works a lot more than waiting for a majestic spiritual awakening that may come in the future, but never in the here and now since you are losing your time waiting for it and complaining about your personal problems.
Expecting a spiritual awakening that could systematically solve all your existential and personal problems…, and even pay the bills – why not after all – is the worst illusion and disaster you could introduce in your own life. Treading a sane and smart spiritual path is what anyone can really practice anywhere and at any time.

Spirituality in fact
To choose between really good and stupidly bad, and take the responsibility of it. Mistakes are allowed anyway, end of the story !

Surfing on the waves of eternity
When the thinking process doesn’t solve any questions anymore, what’s left ?
Let us be a bit serious, can we imagine that we are going to realize the truth or free ourselves from any sort of suffering and dissatisfaction with that :
a b c d e f g h I j k l m no p q r s t u v w x y z ???
All words, concepts, definitions, ideas or thoughts can inevitably be reduced to the 26 letters of the alphabet, the same letters that have apparently produced the problem we are trying to solve.
But apart from the thinking process that may effectively express and manifest suffering, where can we really find the existential problem that makes us suffering ? We could safely say that it is inevitably in our emotional intelligence and nervous system, which don’t need words, concepts, ideas or thoughts to cause pain.
In other words, can we seriously conceive that our conceptual intelligence is capable of solving a problem produced by our emotional intelligence and nervous system ? If we realize that no thought can really cause pain, but only an emotion resulting from or at the origin of that thought can, we will necessarily come to the conclusion that the solution to our existential misery and real suffering will not be found in any sort of conceptual or emotional intelligence. It simply means that no words, book, speech, talk, Satsang, belief system, philosophy, etc. will have the power to overcome, for instance, depression, which doesn't mean either that they cannot help a lot. If it was the case, psychology and psychoanalysis would only be good to throw away.
So where are we going to really find the solution of our mental, emotional and nervous problem ? It doesn’t matter that we call it the intelligence of consciousness, silence of the mind, plenitude of attention and contemplation or by other names, we have to search for and cultivate a mental and emotional state or attitude totally different from the ordinary ones in order to solve that kind of problem, suffering and dissatisfaction in general. And until proven otherwise, only the practice of "active and passive meditation" can produce that very peculiar attitude or state of mind free from suffering.
