The mind is in its very best shape when it asks : "What is ignorance ?" But why does it ask since it obviously knows the answer ?

A slightly insane fractal experience common to every so-called spiritual awakening
Let us suppose that we experience a spiritual awakening, a complete liberation, a realization of the absolute truth, which wouldn't need to be discussed or even thought of, the final end of all suffering that would reveal a perfect state of bliss and satisfaction, no matter what we really mean by such terms, we should also be free from that experience, which, obviously, still makes the difference between being liberated and not liberated, from the duality of being awakened now and not having been awakened in the past, from the opposition between having realized the truth and not having realized it a while ago. In short, we should also free ourselves from the conflict and frustrations generated by all kinds of experiences and memories, which prove that we are now awakened and liberated since we were not before.
As a matter of fact, how could we consider to be liberated from anything if we still refer to a state that is not liberated at all, that is to say to the suffering caused by past ignorance and illusions ? That would not make sense because this state would at least express the suffering of not having been liberated before that experience of liberation. And moreover, it's absolutely impossible to knowingly experience a state of liberation if we don't experience simultaneously its opposite, or at the very least the transition from one state to another while retaining the memory of the previous state.
If we experience a spiritual liberation, it's more than obvious that we also experience what was preventing that liberation, or in best case scenario, we compare consciously or unconsciously one state from another. And it goes without saying that the experience of non-duality in such circumstances is complete nonsense since the experience of liberation can only be lived in relation to the experience of not being liberated otherwise how could we know or even have the impression that it's really an experience of liberation. In other words, the experience of non-duality is absolutely impossible. The term "non-duality" is therefore a concept, which has meaning, as everyone knows after having studied what it means in Advaita Vedanta, only in a philosophical and conceptual system and context.
Now let us imagine that we experience again the liberation that would allow us to be liberated from that experience of liberation, to say the least, contradictory or quite controversial, we would in fact find ourselves in the same state when we were not liberated at all. We can therefore say that we came back to the starting point of that kind of spiritual quest somehow pretty nonsensical.
Yes indeed…, but if we experience the liberation, which would also allow us to be liberated from the previous experience of a liberation rather antinomic, not to say absurd, we would not really come back at the same starting point we were before experiencing it since we are actually having an experience that we did not live before. We are still experiencing a liberation that allows us to be also liberated from a liberation, which was not really one.
But that new state of liberation, which makes it possible to be liberated from an absurd liberation by its dualistic aspect, is still an experience from which we would have to be liberated since it always reveals the duality between being liberated from a liberation to say the least conditioned, and not being liberated from that false liberation. And that very new liberation could not, of course, be anything more than a new experience of liberation, which would again reveal the fact of not being liberated before having experienced it. That very new state of liberation therefore would bring us again and again to the same starting point although it's totally different from it since it reveals a liberation liberated from the two previous experiences of liberation.
It is probably better, as you would have understood, to stop at that liberation "of the third kind", if we want to name it in that way, because there is obviously no end to this type of spiritual liberation lived as an experience, which would systematically reveal that what we experience in the present moment is different from what we did live before. And we could also easily infer from it that if there is a real state of spiritual liberation, it cannot refer to any experience of liberation. We can therefore be sure that spiritual awakening, liberation and realization have truly nothing to do with any ordinary or non-ordinary experience of liberation.
This obviously doesn't explain what the term "spiritual liberation" really means. But it can help a lot at least not to search for it where it cannot be found..., in an experience, for instance.
Spiritual liberation is not an experience, nor for that matter spiritual awakening and Self-realization. So what are we really searching for..., to stop deluding ourselves maybe ?
