The mind is like a crystal with many facets.
You can see through it and understand
that "I" was and always will be an ordinary person.
What a release! "I" would call it a true liberation!

Now or tomorrow, what the difference?
Now or in one week, what the difference?
How long does it take to make a difference?

"Feelings. To have the impression that..."
"Impression":
- Pressure applied by one thing on another.
- A mark produce on a surface.
- An effect produced on the senses, mind or consciousness.
- Basic knowledge, immediate and vague that we have of someone, of an object or an event. State of consciousness more emotional than intellectual.
- Physiological states that cause the appearance in consciousness of a sensation.
"I have the impression that rain is coming." We could say that it's a sensation.
"I have the impression that he doesn't love me." It's an emotion.
"I have the impression that I will never understand mathematics." This is certainly a thought.
"I have the impression that she will come tomorrow." Could it be an intuition?
So a feeling or impression is
- An effect produced by a cause.
- A kind of knowledge, intuitive and subjective.
- A mental phenomenon.
- A state of mind.
- A sensation within consciousness.
I don't think my computer has feelings or impressions.
The "I" lives in its thoughts.
Could we be without impressions?
Is life itself something else than an impression? A cause and an effect, a state of mind, a print, a mark?
It seems to me that this basic knowledge is essential in all the activities of everyday life. But it is intuitive, and for the rational mind, it doesn't make sense, even if the mind works non-stop and in full agreement with this form of knowledge. Ego is this "judge" who believes that intuition is not important. Why? This ego or psychological entity lives in its thoughts and they must be as systematic and logical as 2 + 2 = 4, even if they are not (as a matter of fact, they are not very often systematic and logical). If these thoughts leave this system or structure of the mind, the ego knows that he's going to get crazy. Nonsense and madness means that it no longer controls the mind, which also means soon or late "suffering".
This reasoning implies that "I" is able to control the mind, that is to say, the ego has power over the mind. The question is whether it's true or maybe, it's the mind which uses the ego as a psychological entity to find a kind of balance within itself, i.e. not to get lost and crazy in the vastness of the universe it represents.
The mind is an incomprehensible and vast domain elusive like water that we would try to grasp hold of. As much as consciousness is clear and easy to know, the mind is an unfathomable mystery. But it's within it that the psychological entity called the ego lives continuously. On the other hand, consciousness does not make this entity "dreaming" ; it annihilates its manifestations. Thus, this entity or ego will never find any interest in this mental faculty which makes it conscious.
The annihilation of the ego is not the destruction of the mind because we cannot separate the individual mind from the cosmic mind, or in other words, as long as a person is alive, he or she has to live in the world of matter where there is his or her body. Microcosm and macrocosm are inseparable. They seem to be different because we are a priori unable to explore the outer edges of the universe with our senses of perception and our little intelligence, but they are one. The mind is actually another word to determine the universe, the creation in its totality, including the subtle worlds that our senses of perception are unable to grasp.
In this context, what mean "Self-realization" and "Sahaja Samadhi," the natural state of being in itself and of course, the natural state of the person we incarnate too?
This realization doesn't destroy the psychological entity, i.e. the "I" as a personal identity because it is necessary to live normally (to remain within the norm). If I don't know who I am personally and cannot refer to my own past, which is different of another person, it would mean that I am in a state of ecstasy incompatible with the state in which I am in the daily life. If "I" no longer represent the person that I am, it means I no longer live with my body or in the reality. Such a state would be unbearable after a few days and it certainly cannot be called "natural". So what are the effects of Self-realization and Sahaja Samadhi? And where can we find the ego in the mind?
If the intellect is like a mirror, as I explained in "Egocentricity and spirituality," the real question is not where to find the ego, but what it is used for? The answer is, of course, the ego is absolutely useless, except if you really enjoy pain and misery. We thus arrive at the conclusion that Self-realization and Sahaja Samadhi is the annihilation of the ego, but not of the mind nor the personal identity. The state of no-mind is a nonsense or it has a meaning in a different context and especially in Buddhist definitions of enlightenment.
Now, how to distinguish the ego from the psychological and personal identity? The ego is identical to the psychological entity with a tiny something else, the belief that "I am and really exist as an entity separated of everything which determines my presence". Only this I-identity can believe in its own life. Nothing that it incarnates can confirm its own reality somewhere in the mind and the body. This entity which believes in itself makes that the individual, the person with the body and the mind, the psychological and personal identity which results from mental and intellectual life, the concept "I" necessary to express ourselves normally and the intellect are no longer in their natural state. In other words, they are not what it should be.

Culture today

During the 12 years I spent in India, one of the most amazing idea Indians gave me quite a few times is :
"If you believe it, it exists."
So what?
If I don't believe it, it doesn't exist.
What's about reality, the world in which we are living?
What's about the universe?
What's about space and time?
What's about the millions of Gods in the Hindu pantheon?
What' about God?
If I believe in them, they exists?
"Life is a state of mind"
Peter Sellers in "Being There" of Hal Ashby .
Is it a state of mind or a state of belief?
As far as we are personally concerned, consciousness exists.
It's not a state of mind nor a belief.
The rest is another story.
It's the personal story of everyone.
The problem of human being,
it's to be only human.
But...,
there is always somewhere a "but",
that's a particularity to be human too.
But, what is to be a human being?
Isn't it among many other things to discover continually our limits,
a human condition which doesn't satisfy our dreams, our curiosity and our thoughts?
But, is it human beings who think like that or the ego with its body and mind?
My cats never try to jump further than the mouse they want to catch. This doesn't prevent them of dreaming when they sleep.
If life is not a dream, why to insist so much on the notion of awakening in spirituality?

The mind, it’s more that what you think.
If you find an obstacle in your life, know that it’s most of the time the mind which put it there. How could it do that? Nobody knows because we don’t really know what the mind is. It seems to be much more that what you could find in your head.

The 2 faces of the mind
At a personal level, the mind is nothing more than the brain. At an impersonal level, it’s the universe. It doesn’t mean by realizing that your true nature is the universal consciousness you become suddenly aware of the entire universe.

A simple principle worth to know
"Body and mind are one" means that by thinking in a certain way, we can change the functioning of our brain and consequently the brain itself. And by changing our brain, we change our body. It also works in the opposite way. By practicing a certain type of physical exercises, we change our body which will change the brain and its functioning and then our mind. Western science starts to understand this mechanism which has been known for thousands years in eastern spirituality.

Does the complexity we perceive inside and outside ourselves find in our head or in the reality of life itself?
As an individual, we are the result of an extremely complex process, of an unimaginable wealth and almost eternal if we take account of reincarnation. And it’s perhaps this complexity pushed to the extreme which eventually causes the individual to seek liberation because it becomes unbearable, otherwise the creation, even if it is only an illusion, does not make sense. Why to create a world with beings that cannot stand it and who finally wish to be free from it? This is absurd unless liberation is actually the only way to truly appreciate reality as it is and not to leave its apparent complexity.

Thinking out of the box… when one is inside
Matter is not composed of matter. Science accepts today that the universe is made of energy without knowing precisely what energy is.
The next step will be that everything is a projection of a universal consciousness without any precise idea of what could be this consciousness.
Then what?
Does it mean that there is absolutely no way to know the truth about the universe and its creation?
It seems logical that it’s impossible to know it as long as we are stuck in it. But…
If it's true where does sacred knowledge such as the Vedas come from and which explains what science doesn’t understand yet?
Maybe we can slide from one universe to another if the theory of parallel universes is true.
Could we one day answer to every questions?
And for what?
Still a question!
That’s how the mind survives and the creation protects itself against self-destruction.
Anyhow, is there any difference between mind and creation?
No problem
With the mind, it’s very simple.
If it didn’t have this problem, it would have another.

Stress
The stress is obviously the outcome of the thought of what we would like to do instead of what we are doing and should do.
But how to suddenly think to what we should do since we are thinking to something else ? It could seem nonsense. In fact, we only need to be aware of the power of thinking as if we were carried away by it and somehow becoming unaware of what it really is.
And the practice of meditation help considerably in that way to develop the power of attention whatever the style of meditation you practice. We only have to train the mind at least 20 minutes every day and twice a day if possible in order to step back and watch how it works.
In other terms, stress is the outcome of the confrontation between desire and reality because what we are doing and should do will always be present and especially more important than what we want and would love to do.
And when it’s time to have fun, it’s certainly not the one to worry.
That’s the middle path too.

Axis of significance and meaning
The mind and its only mode of expression, the ego, "Me and I...", etc.,
should ask the question :
"What is the main problem of my life,
the real problem at the origin of all the others,
which are somehow superficial,
but without any doubt very unpleasant ?"
and thus stop turning madly like a weathercock very pride of itself on its axis...
of significance and meaning,
which clearly shows that it has understood nothing,
and without even trying to know and understand
what the true nature of its axis could be.
By "axis of significance and meaning",
I mean, for instance, something very simple such as
we can hear someone speaking to us
and even turn our head and look at that person speaking,
and understand absolutely nothing,
and even less remember anything
because we are focused and centered on something else,
another axis so to speak,
thoughts, feelings or other states of mind, it doesn't matter.
So what is the difference between something that has no meaning
and obviously cannot be in any way satisfactory,
and another thing, which reveals its meaning and,
although pleasant or very unpleasant,
has nevertheless a significance and meaning ?
The only difference as far as I know is the power of attention,
that is to say, the ability to observe, realize and thus understand.
But where does this power of attention come from ?
We have a word without real meaning to determine its origin : "consciousness".
What is the true nature of this consciousness ?
It is obviously your business to observe, realize and understand it.
The mind cannot find peace in the absence of understanding.
In other words, it needs "to believe".
Unexpected conclusion, I guess !
Mind and belief, what could be really the difference ?

You will never find any answer in spiritual matters with the faculty you use to ask the questions.
You will never find a solution to suffering in the mind that has created the problem.
