The Disappearing AI
The Disappearing AI
Every once in a while, editors have reported that the Scribendi AI has disappeared from Microsoft Word, but don't worry! We've got a fix for this! Follow these simple instructions:
First, go to the File tab and select Options. You should get the following window. Select Add-Ins in the column on the left, and make sure COM Add-ins is selected in the drop-down menu. Click Go.
This will bring up another window. In this window, make sure that the box next to "Scribendi AI" is checked. You may have to restart Word, but the Scribendi AI should now display properly (shown below under its previous name of "Scribendi Toolbar")
If the Scribendi AI is temporarily unavailable, orders can be prepared and saved manually. Please make sure to name the files properly; the suffix _TRACKED_REVISED should be used to name the initial Tracked copy of the document being edited or proofread. Please ensure that the Tracked Changes are on for all documents and file types that require revisions to be tracked by clicking on the "Track Changes" icon under the "Review" tab in Word. Once a _TRACKED_REVISED copy has been completed and saved manually by clicking the Save icon, a _CLEAN_REVISED version can be created by clicking the "Accept" icon under the "Review" tab in Word and then clicking "Accept All Changes." This will accept all the revisions in the document and create a clean copy. This version must then be saved. Click "File," "Save As," and select your location for saving. In the screen that opens, replace the file's _TRACKED_REVISED suffix with the _CLEAN_REVISED suffix and click the "Save" button. You should now have Tracked and Clean copies to upload and return.
