The Tracking for Changes Goes Missing
Editors will sometimes either a) forget to turn on the tracked changes or b) accidentally accept the tracked changes without saving the tracked version first. If you can't simply backtrack to show the changes, there's a fairly simple solution for creating a new _TRACKED_REVISED file using the "Compare" function in Word.
Click on the "Review" tab in word.
Click on the "Compare" icon.
There will be two options, "Compare" and "Combine." Click on the "Compare" option.
A box will pop up. On the left side, where it says "Original document," use the dropdown and select "browse"; browse to the client's original (unrevised) version of the document and select it (if you do not have a saved version of the client's original document on your computer, you will have to download a version from the order page and save it now).
On the right side, where it says "Revised document," use the dropdown and select "browse"; browse to the edited version of the document and select it.
Click "OK."
A new file will be created, and the differences between these two versions will be shown as tracked changes.
Rename the new file according to the Scribendi order conventions: the order number opening (e.g., Order_111222_-_) must match the original, and the _TRACKED_REVISED ending can then be added).
