Changing Footnotes to Endnotes (or Vice Versa)
Changing Footnotes to Endnotes (or Vice Versa)
Clients sometimes want footnotes changed to endnotes or endnotes changed to footnotes. As long as they've used the footnote function in Word to create the footnotes or endnotes, there's an easy solution for this.
Open the document in Word.
Click on the "References" tab at the top of the toolbar. There will now be "Table of Contents," "Footnotes," "Citations & Bibliography," "Captions," "Index," and "Table of Authorities" sections.
In the "Footnotes" section of the bar there is a small arrow in the bottom right corner. Click on the arrow.
A box will open. The "Location" section will have a place to select "Footnotes" or "Endnotes." If "Footnotes" are currently selected, select "Endnotes." If "Endnotes are currently selected, select "Footnotes."
Click "Convert."
A new box will appear called "Convert Notes"; "Convert all footnotes to endnotes" (or vice versa) should already be selected. Click "OK." This box will then disappear.
On the first box, click "Insert."
