Computer Use
As a contractor with Scribendi, you must use only your home computer while performing work for us. In terms of browsers, the major options, including Internet Explorer (soon to be phased out), Chrome, Edge, Opera, and Firefox, are all acceptable. The bulk of orders are Microsoft Word documents, and you must have Microsoft Word 2016 or later to handle Scribendi orders. This is necessary to be compatible with Scribendi AI and to ensure the integrity of documents (Microsoft no longer supports older versions of MS Word). The same holds true for other programs in the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., PowerPoint and Excel).
You need to have a secure internet connection. This includes the following requirements:
a private network (i.e., no public WiFi can be used)
password protection
WP2/WP3 encryption
anti-virus/anti-spyware software (installed and regularly updated, preferably daily)
firewall (enabled Windows Defender or firewall software of your choice)
You are responsible for making sure your computer equipment is free of viruses, spyware, and any other electronic threats. We also don't want you receiving an electronic hazard from our clients, nor do we want you to transmit these hazards to our server and/or to our clients.
These programs should be on ALL the computers you use in association with performing work with Scribendi—laptops, desktops, PDAs, and any networked machines.
If your computer's security has been compromised at any time for any reason, notify Scribendi immediately, especially if you have work in progress.
