When you begin working on a file, you'll want to pay strict attention to the client's instructions. When a client places an order, the will typically specify the following information: 

1. Whether they want us to proofread their references or bibliography 

2. Their target journal or style guide requirements 

3. Which version of English should be used for editing or proofreading 

The client then has the option of leaving additional instructions or notes. They may provide information about the intended audience, specific issues they are concerned about, and specific parts of the document they do or do not want the editor to work on.
