Right to Left Text
Right to Left Text
Sometimes when a document is created in Word with the formatting set to accommodate a right to left language (e.g., Arabic, Hebrew), the formatting of the comment text is reversed. Don't worry! There's an easy fix for this: a button that will reverse the text. This is already included in the Scribendi Toolbar. Once you have the Scribendi Toolbar, you can simply click this button to reverse the text so that it will read left to right.
However, if needed, you can also install it in Word directly by following these steps:
In the open Word document, go to the top left corner of the screen; beside the W symbol, the Save icon, and the Undo and Repeat typing icons, there should be a little drop-down arrow. (If you already have a text direction button, it will appear here as a little paragraph symbol.)
Click the arrow.
In the box that drops down, click "More Commands."
A large box will appear. In the text box labelled "Choose commands from," click on the drop-down arrow (the box has a default choice that says "Popular Commands").
Select "All Commands" from the list that appears.
On the main list, you can now scroll down to the L section and select "Left to Right Text Direction."
Click the "Add" button.
Click "OK."
Now, back in the top left corner, you should have a new little icon. It looks like a paragraph symbol with a little arrow beside it. If you highlight text, you can now click on this button and it will reverse the text direction. This also works for comment balloons that are reversed. Click in the balloon and then click the Left to Right Text Direction button. Problem solved!
Sometimes right to left text also occurs in the comments. To fix this problem, click on one of the comments and use the button noted above to change the text to left to right. To apply this corrected formatting to all the comments, you can then do the following:
Right click on the comment that has been corrected to left to right text.
Click "Paragraph."
In the box that opens, click "Set as Default."
In the next box that opens, the option "This document only?" should be checked. Click "OK."
