You can download and review the file(s) before deciding whether to accept or reject the order by clicking the "Download" button(s).
Once you've reviewed all the information, and determined that you'd like to do the order, you can then accept it using the button at the bottom of the Order Details screen.
Once you have clicked the "Accept Task" button, you'll see a confirmation screen.
If you were to click the Control Panel now, you would see that it shows you have this order in the "In Progress" section of the screen.
Important notes:
Light yellow highlighting (as shown above) indicates that there is still time before the editor deadline; the order is in the first half of its timeframe.
Dark yellow highlighting indicates that the order is approaching the editor deadline; the order is in the second half of its timeframe.
Orange highlighting indicates that the order has exceeded the editor deadline; the order should be completed as soon as possible while still maintaining high-quality work.
You do not have to explicitly reject all orders that you don't want. However, if a client requests you for an order and you find you can't take it on for whatever reason, it is helpful for you to reject it so we can get it reassigned as quickly as possible.
There is no penalty for rejecting orders except as noted below.
You may find that in the time it takes you to look over an order, someone else has accepted it. Therefore, it is okay to temporarily accept an order so that you can have an exclusive look at it. However, please avoid taking assignments for extended periods of time and then rejecting them. You can keep an order for up to 20 minutes to assess it. If you hold an order for longer than twenty minutes and then reject it, you incur a karma point penalty (more on karma points later).
Don't forget to actually accept an order that you plan to work on! There are few things more disheartening than working on an order and going to return it, only to realize that someone else took the order because you hadn't made it official.
Very, very important: Be sure to review the order, the file, and the instructions thoroughly as soon as you accept the job, even if you don't plan to work on it immediately (assuming the deadline allows, of course). It is important to get an accurate idea of how much time the job will take. For example, some documents look great at the beginning but go downhill as the author gets tired. It is also important to check we have the right file from the client and whether the word count and service are correct. It is the editor's responsibility to report any potential issues.
