Reflection Self Portrait

The subject of this image is my reflection in the mirror held by my siblings. I took this image outdoors on my porch. I took this image using my digital camera, I then used photoshop to make it grayscale and I inverted it. I then printed the inverted version on transparency paper and used that as my negative in the dark room. In this image there is shape shown, the circular mirror. You can see the texture of the mirror frame. There is contrast between the height of Henry and the height of Sadie. There is unity because they are holding the mirror together and my reflection is in the mirror.

In this image there is formal balance because there is one person on each side of the mirror and the mirror is almost centered. There is selective focus because all of the picture is in focus except me in the mirror. The mirror frames my reflection. This picture was originally digital and then I used photoshop to make it grayscale and inverted. In the dark room the developer was fresh so it didn't take long to develop the paper. I started out by doing a segmented test strip, segments of 2 secs at F8. I chose to do 5 secs at first, but this was very grey so I added a 2.5 filter. Because I added the filter I redid the test strips and decided on 8 secs at F8. The first print had uneven borders so I redid it and made sure to have even borders.

I took this picture to show my love for photography and to show that i'm a triplet. This project relates to my life because it's about my life being a triplet and my interest in photography. I think this image could be stronger if it was darker all over, to fix this I would change the aperture so more light would shine on the paper. This means I would have to redo my test strips.
