Beautiful Oops

The assignment was to take a spill, or splatter of paint and turn it into something else. This was an idea from the book Beautiful Oops which is all about turning mistakes into something. On the paper there was a splatter of paint. so that is one of the materials. I also used a black sharpie for the bold lines and a green crayon for the smaller whale. In this drawing I used lines and color. I joined the splatter to my lines which is unity. It evolved from a messy paint splatter with no real meaning to a whale. When I was first handed the paper I had absolutely no idea what to make the splatter into, I just sat and stared at it for awhile. I am proudest of the smaller whale below that I drew myself. I overcame my issue of not knowing what to draw by looking at the splatter at different angles, upside down, portrait and landscape, then after much thought I decided on landscape orientation and I saw a whale's face. I wish I could've used more color, if I had more time I would've because I like to use color in my artwork. Other than that I really like what I did.
