The subject of these images is the woods behind my house. I took these images in the afternoon when it was overcast which brought out the green of the moss and other plants. To take this images I used my digital camera and I used photoshop and photos to edit them. I chose to group the images to make one final picture because I used this technique for a project last semester and it really added depth to the final image. In each image above there is texture shown because I was close to my subject and the images are high quality. There is also unity in the images because they are meant to go together and the roots and things bring the images together.
In all three images there is informal balance because the subject isn't in the middle of the picture and because there are different subjects on different sides of the pictures. There is selective focus because the foreground is in focus while the background isn't. There is grouping of trees, branches, rocks and moss, the roots and branches also serve as leading lines. All these groups of images started as individual pictures, I then used photos to edit the images and photoshop to crop and combine them. I edited the photos by changing the contrast, brilliance and exposure. In photoshop to line up the pictures I moved them slightly up, down and side to side.
These images are important to me because I wanted to capture the natural beauty of the woods behind my house. Almost everyday I walk through these woods with dogs and their are some beautiful places. I also captured the erosion because this is an important issue in Maine and all over the place. If I was to redo anything or add anything to this project I think I would add more images because I would want to add variety of what the pictures are of. I might also try taking the pictures using a tripod so they lined up closer to perfection. While this perfection would be nice, I also like how if you take a closer look at the pictures they aren't perfect.
