Hands

The assignment was to take a unique picture of a hand or hands. I took this image in my sister's bed room where she has a map of the world on her wall. The subject of the image is my hand's shadow over the map. To take this image I used my camera, a flashlight and Photos for editing. I chose to take a picture of my hand's shadow over the map to represent climate change taking over. This picture shows a range of value and contrast between the wall and shadow.

In this image my hand is framing the map. The map in my hand is in focus while everything outside of it is out of focus this is selective focus. To take this picture I used my tripod to prop up my flashlight towards the wall with the map and I held my camera in one hand and put the other in front of the flashlight. I moved it farther away to make it smaller. It took awhile to get the right hand position. I used Photos to make it black and white and then I changed the light. I originally had it so the hand was light and the wall was dark, but I changed that.

This is supposed to represent climate change taking over the world. It could also be the shadow of climate change about to grab the world away. This project relates to my life because this is my world and I chose to take this picture. It is also of my hand. Something that bothers me is that my hand is slightly off the map and I wish it was on the map. I would have to retake this picture to do that. Other than that I like this image.
