Independent Project

The assignment was to come up with a project that was independent and incorporated a skill that we learned this year. I chose to do printmaking because it is fun and I wanted to improve my printmaking skills. I took a black and white picture of my labradoodle Louis and put it into Acorn and posterized it and flipped the image. I then transferred the image onto my linoleum printing block and carved out all of the white part. I printed multiple APs then I printed out pictures of sunsets and sunrises that i've taken and printed on them. I used black printing ink, a glass piece, an ink roller and paper. During this project I ran into a few problems with keeping the pictures I wanted to print on clean and had to reprint some of them and crop them to different sizes. I chose to print a picture of my dog because I love him! I chose to use pictures i've taken because I enjoy photography. I am proudest of my third and fourth prints because they are clean and printed all on top of the picture. To make my artwork stronger I would clean up the borders because the paper is torn from using tape to take of paint, the messing borders bother me and don't show my very best work. I had fun with this project and I'm glad that I got to print lots of prints.
