Abstract Shoe Drawing

Our assignment was to choose one of our 3 drawings of our shoe from the zoom and crop assignment. Then using a pattern to fill the space and bold lines to outline shapes. It no longer looks like a shoe, the patterns and lines have transformed it into an abstract drawing. For the bold lines, I used a black sharpie and for all of the color I used a variety of colored pencils. We chose to create these abstract drawings as a way to use line, shape, and color. It started off as a simple line drawing then I added elements (listed above) and patterns and it evolved into a more complex piece. This piece relates to my life because it is based off of an everyday item, shoes. Everyday we wear different kinds of shoes, and we see them as shoes. This project showed that an everyday object can be seen as a totally different thing. I am proudest of the patterns because they took patience and time, in the end they turned out great! At first I struggled with ideas for my patterns and filling all of the white, negative space, then taking Mr.Andreson's advice I looked at patterns in nature and I overcame my struggle and found patterns to fill the white, negative space. If I could fix or change anything about this piece I would have used a wider color variety and focused more on the quality of my coloring. Making it more solid and not fading and inconsistent.
