Organic Forms & Textures

For this image I took pictures of natural patterns and used them to make a somewhat unnatural scene. I took all of the images at my house. Most are of of house plants and one is dried quinoa on water. I used my digital camera with my macro lens to take these pictures, I used Photos to adjust the lighting of the pictures and I used photoshop to cut the images into shapes. I wanted to create something use pictures instead of just choosing one picture. All of the pictures show texture and lines. There are bright, fresh colors. The quinoa shows a pattern.

A few of the pictures show selective focus while a few show sharp focus. The quinoa is grouped and there are two flowers, repetition. My project started out as four pictures that I edited in photos and I used the lasso tool to cut out shapes of buildings and a tree. I selected the flowers and made them grayscale to make clouds.

I wanted to make something unnatural out of organic patterns. I chose to make a town using flower and leaf patterns. I also made a tree out of quinoa and clouds out of flowers. This project relates to my life because I took these pictures of living things that share this world with me. I care about plants and animals and how my actions impact the earth. I think this image could be stronger if I added an interesting background or if I added more buildings.
