This quarter I have learned so much about photography and made it less of a hobby and more of a possible profession. I have been interested in photography since I first used my mother’s camera and eventually got my own. I have grown so much as a photographer in just a quarter because we learned about compositions and techniques that I didn’t know or think about.

I think that the grade I had this quarter is what I deserved because I worked hard to meet deadlines and have my best possible images. I almost always have good habits of work and I have missed very few classes.

The most interesting thing I learned was how to use photoshop to turn photos into another kind of art. Looking back at my pictures from the first assignment I can see growth in usage of compositions, techniques and editing photos. I used to think it was a bad thing to edit pictures, but now I know that editing just adds to the picture. One comparison is my selective focus picture that I edited a little in iphoto and my silhouette, selective focus picture that I edited using multiplicity and adjusting the histogram. My favorite project was the multiplicity and color selection project because it was challenging and fun. I hope that I learn and grow more as a photographer next quarter and semester.

I think that my pictures will get stronger as I learn more because this quarter I can see ways I can improve my pictures with my taking pictures skills and my editing skills. I like the pictures I took on my camera more than the few on my phone because they have a higher resolution.

This coming quarter and semester I will be more prepared for class and always have my digital or film camera with me. Another goal is that I will try to do more of my work during the given studio time so I don’t end up rushing through it at home, I think this will help improve my pictures. This summer I learned how to use a film camera and develop pictures, I’m excited to learn more about it. I hope than I will have the chance to develop a roll or two rolls of good pictures.
