This topic guides you through the QuickEasy BOSPrint installation process.

Installing QuickEasy BOS consists of the following key steps. Each step is explained in detail below.

Download the Installation Zip file from the QuickEasy website (Upload Pending) and extract the contents to your desktop or downloads folder.
This file contains everything you need to successfully install QuickEasy BOSPrint 2019.
Firebird is a relational database offering many ANSI SQL standard features that runs on Linux, Windows, and a variety of Unix platforms.
The Firebird Installation Setup is provided in the QuickEasy BOSPrint Installation file.
Make sure to Install the Firebird that supports your System Type.
To identify your System Type:
Windows 7 - Navigate to Start menu (bottom left on toolbar) > Computer > System Properties (top menu) > System type.
Windows 10 - Navigate to Start menu > Settings (gear icon) > System > About (menu on the left) > Device Specifications - System type.
Double-click on the Firebird application to run the Setup Wizard and follow the steps below:
Select language and click OK.
Check the I accept the agreement check-box and click Next.
Click Next.
Browse to the correct installation folder if necessary and click Next.
For server install select Full installation. If the installation is for a user client select Minimum Client install. Click Next.
If you don't want a Start Menu folder Check the box or simply click Next.
Check the Generate client library as GDS32.DLL for legacy InterBase support check-box and click Next.
Enter the SYSDBA Password.
Set the Password to hjisthebest and click Next.
Click Install to begin installation. After you clicked Install, a loading bar will appear to show the installation progress.
After installation is completed this window will appear and simply click Next.
You have completed the Firebird Setup Wizard. Click Finish.
The Directory is created in your C Drive (Local or Server) and is where all the QuickEasy BOS data files will be stored.
To find your C Drive:
Windows 7 - Navigate to Start menu (bottom left on toolbar) > Computer > Devices and Drives - Local Disk (C:).
Windows 10 - Navigate to Start menu >This PC > Devices and Drives - Local Disk (C:).
To create the Directory, simply Cut & Paste the QuickEasy BOS folder within the Installation file to your C Drive.
Now you can delete the downloaded Installation file you've extracted to your desktop or downloads folder.
A Server is needed to host Databases.
You will use Tools (to register a Server) located in the directory that you pasted in your C Drive. QuickEasyTools is a utility that is used to setup and maintain your Firebird database. On Tools you will find additional BOS fixes, scripts and downloads.
Follow the steps below to Register a Server with Tools:

Navigate to C Drive > QuickEasy BOS > BOSPrint (the Directory you've pasted in step 3) > Tools.
Double-click on Tools and a QuickEasy Tools application will open.
Navigate to Server (in the top menu) and select Register Server.
Enter a Server name if necessary, it can be a name, cloud or IP address. Click Register.
The newly created Server is now visible in Tools.
Registering a Database allows you run upgrade scripts in the future as well as run multiple databases on one Server.
Follow the steps below to Register a Database with Tools:

Right-click on the Server and select Register Database.
A Register Database window will open. Click on the Browse button.
Navigate to the Data folder within the Directory, select the Database .FDB file and click Open.
Once you've clicked Open and the Username (SYSDBA) / Password (hjisthebest) does not automatically populate, make sure to enter them.
The name fields will now be populated.
Click Register to register the database.
The newly registered database will now be listed under the Server in Tools. You are able to create multiple databases on one Server.
When you restore a Databases you are moving an external Database on to the Server. This can not be done safely with a Database (.FDB) file however a back up (.fbk) file will stay stable. Therefore the newly Registered Database will need to be Restored with a backup (.fbk) file.
Follow the steps below to Restore a Database with Tools:

Right-click on the database, navigate to Database Tools and select Restore.
A Restore window will appear. Click Browse.
Navigate to the DataBackup folder within the Directory, select the Backup .fbk file and click Open.
If the Replace existing database check-box is checked, the existing Database will be replaced.
This is used for the initial install as well as when your Database has been corrupted and you want to restore your Database with a backup .fbk (Database Backup file).
The name field will now be populated.
Check the Replace existing database check-box and click Restore.
Wait for Restore Completed notification and click Close.
The Startup scripts initialises the Database. Without this you will not be able to log-in.

Follow the steps below to execute the Startup scripts with Tools:

Right-click on the Database and select Connect. The database will appear blue when connected.
Right-click on the connected database and select Execute SQL Statements.
An Execute SQL Statement window will appear.
Navigate to the Utilities folder within the Directory and open the 1. Startup folder.
This folder contains two essential scripts.
It is of extreme importance to execute the scripts in numerical order and to only execute one script at a time.
Drag and drop the first .sql file (1. Startup Script.sql) into the Execute SQL window and click on the Play icon (in the top menu) to execute.
Wait for the Execution Complete notification and close the window.
Right-click on the database and select Disconnect.
It is recommended to disconnect between executions as a precaution. The Database might get corrupted if you don't disconnect between executions.
Right-click on the database and select Connect.
Drag and drop the second .sql file (2. Create Staff.sql) into the Execute SQL window and click on the Play icon to execute.
After the execution is completed, close the Execute SQL Statements window and Disconnect the Database.
Executing Setup Scripts is optional.
If you wish to configure QuickEasy BOSPrint for your own business, skip this step.

The Setup scripts will configure QuickEasy BOSPrint with generic setups, automatically creating Customers/Suppliers and setting up Pre-Press, Finishing, Printing Types, Despatch and Production parameters.
Navigate to the Utilities folder within the Directory. These folders contain generic scripts you can execute in the Execute SQL Statements window, the same way as you did with the Startup scripts.
Remember to disconnect between executions and executing in numerical order, one script at a time.
It is extremely important to regular back up your Database, especially before you execute scripts or Update your Database.
A Database Backup will save all your Setups, Customers, Suppliers as well as Transactions and Accounting activity.
Follow the steps below to create a Database backup with Tools:

Right-click on the connected database, navigate down to Database Tools and select Backup.
Click on the browse button.
Navigate to the DataBackup folder within the Directory. Here you will see the previous .fbk file you used to restore the Database. Enter a new File name with .fbk at the end and Click Open.
The name field will now be populated. Click Backup to backup your current Database.
Once the Database backup is finished, close the Backup Database window.
If you navigate to your DataBackup folder within the Directory you will see the newly created Database backup (.fbk) file in the list.
The QEDB file is a configuration setting that creates a path between your BOSPrint executable and Database.

Double-click on the QEDB (.ini) file within the Directory and make sure the navigation matches the Database's location.
The text in the QEDB file is case sensitive.
The Database's location can be found at the bottom of Tools when you click on the registered Database. See image below:
Creating a shortcut will save you the time of navigating back to you C Drive to open the BOSPrint application.
To create a shortcut, simply copy the QuickEasy BOSPrint 2019 application within the Directory. Then navigate to your desktop, right-click and select Paste shortcut.
Now you are able to run QuickEasy BOSPrint 2019.
If you log into QuickEasy BOSPrint for the first time, you will need to renew your license.
