The components, raw material or finished product that make up the products or services that are sold are listed as Material Items. All the information related to an item including a Description, Code, Specification, Image, Pricing etc. are stored in the Material records. This screenshot will help guide the explanations and definitions below.

Materials are used throughout the program in many of the modules. QuickEasy uses a common lookup window from which to add Materials to transactions. Depending on the Display Mode, the lookup window will either popup on top of the Transaction window (Modal Mode) or open docked to the side of the transaction window (Docked Mode) in which case it can stay open until the transaction processing is complete.
The screenshot below shows the steps required to add Materials to transactions:
The lookup window uses a Data Filter similar to the other modules which allows you to open a filtered list of Materials based on the selected Type or a multi-word text search on the Code and Description fields. The Type defaults according to the module you are working in. eg. 'Finished Goods' in the Sales Order Module, Supplied items in the Purchase Order module or Manufactured items in the Work Order module. Search strings can also be saved to a lookup list using the button to the right of the search edit control.
By default only the Code, Description and Unit fields are visible in the Grid but more fields can be added using the Field Chooser - for Grid changes to persist, right-click the grid and then Save Grid. The + button down the left side of the Grid allows you to to view the Units, Cost and Selling Prices, Supplier Prices and Inventory for the selected Item.
QuickEasy includes the functionality to create a Material Item from a Quote. This is useful when selling products at fixed prices backed by a Costing (The Quotation).
A Material Item can be created directly from a Quotation as follows:
A new Material Item will be created and opened.
The Quotation Reference will become the Material Item's Description and the Quotation will be linked under the Quotations tab.
If changes have been made to the Quotation since the Material item was created, the Material Item can be updated.
The popup menu also provides functionality to open the linked Quotation.
