The University of Oulu has produced its own quality criteria for online courses to support the work of teachers creating online courses.
This quality criteria compile the core aspects needed for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of online courses.
Whether it's about creating a new online course or updating an existing one, the quality criteria significantly ease the amount of planning and implementation work.
You can find the quality criteria for online courses on Patio, on the Quality Criteria for Online Courses page.
The quality criteria aim to ease and facilitate the teacher's work and ensure that all online courses at the University of Oulu meet certain quality standards. This improves the learning experience for students and makes studying smoother.
The quality criteria consist of seven different areas, following which the planning and implementation work of the online course becomes easier, and the course becomes clearer and more attractive to the student.
Each area clearly states what must be done and implemented at a minimum (basic level) or how to do things even more qualitatively and effectively (advanced level). When the different areas of the online course meet the basic level criteria mentioned in the quality criteria, the course can then be developed and shaped further using the advanced level criteria.
The quality criteria can also be used as a "checklist" to ensure the quality of an existing course.

It is possible to upload the criteria as pdf there as well.
The criteria are based on, among other things, the quality criteria published by Digivisio, taking them towards an even more practical direction. The criteria were developed by the University of Oulu's digipedagogy and video services team in collaboration with our university's teaching experts.
