This has been used in many math-courses in our university.
According to my experiences, Moodle STACK is well-suited to engineering sciences as well.

What I did?
I used Moodle STACK to create a preliminary e-exam with point-reward to the traditional final exam. If a student passed the final exam, the e-exam points were added. The student feedback was very positive.
The preliminary e-exam can be tried and downloaded from https://abacus.aalto.fi (category is Technology/Circuit Theory).
