Panopto

New media management system Panopto now in use

Panopto is a new media management tool for the University of Oulu and Oulu University of Applied Sciences (Oamk).

In Panopto, you can store, edit, and share videos.

Both staff and students of the University of Oulu and Oamk can store their video files in Panopto and share them from there to other services with various viewing permissions.

About Panopto

Panopto is a clear and user-friendly tool for creating, editing, subtitling, and sharing videos.

It automatically generates Finnish subtitles and a handy AI summary for videos, which enhances their accessibility.

Editing the subtitles and AI summary is very easy.

Panopto offers numerous features and usage possibilities for teaching and research needs.

You can take your first steps in Panopto by watching the introductory video made by digimentor Juuso Kojo from Faculty of Education and Psychology .

To make the most of this new tool and discover the diverse possibilities of Panopto for your work, you can:

Participate in upcoming user training sessions. Information about these sessions will be communicated through the internal channels of the universities.
Find more details about logging in and instructions for using Panopto in Moodle on the ict-oulu.fi -website.
Watch the recording of the first Panopto user training session (Jan 21st, 2025). The training is in English.
Try and test it out, also together with colleagues.

Please, also notify that Panopto will replace Yuja media management system soon.

The transition will happen gradually, with Panopto being introduced on January 20 and Yuja's use ending on March 24, 2025.

Yuja and Panopto will be available concurrently during this period, so you can switch to using Panopto at a time that suits you best.
