Reengagement activity in Moodle
What for?
Moodle's Reengagement activity is a tool that helps teachers guide students' learning process. You can use Reengagement, for example:
Scheduling Moodle activities to become available after a certain time, when the previous activity has been completed. For example, the student must familiarize himself with the material before he can submit an assignment. The assignment opens when the student has completed familiarization with the material.
Reengagement reminds the student to complete an uncompleted activity in Moodle. This can help the student stay on schedule and achieve their learning goals.
With the help of the Reengagement you can send automatic messages to students, like a congratulatory message after they have completed an activity. You can also include instructions for the next assignment in the message and provide an example submission for the assignment. Read more about the Reengagement activity from Mediamaisteri's Reengagement instructions.
How I used it?
In the online biochemistry courses of the Open University, I have sent a welcome message for the students, which goes out automatically when the student opens the Moodle course for the first time. Messages can be personalized for each student, for example with the user's first name.
A tip for using Reengagement: In order for Reengagement to start at the right time, the settings must be configured correctly. This may seem difficult at first, but the Moodle support of the University of Oulu and Oamk can help you with it. Book a time for a Moodle consultation from Bookings.
