Grade 1:
Children to colour and create their Popcorn boxes -
Students to get a popcorn box with baseword POP.
They are to apply 1.1.1 rule to the word POP and create popcorn pieces with POP+suffix:
popping, popped, popper, pops.
Challenge: What about the popcorn box. Can we apply the 1.1.1. rule?
(No - because X is in the ‘black box’).
Grade 2:
For practicing the 1-1-1 Doubling Spelling Rule! Students grab a wrapped bubble gum and bubble card and decide if they have to double the ending consonant before adding the suffix.
Work with teacher.
Focus phonograms with aide in quiet space.
Extension: Give students more pieces of popcorn to write extra words.
Play a game of phonogram flower with a 1:1:1 word.
